What is the safest cookware?
Nonstick cookware
The fact that it doesn’t stick makes it maybe one of the most appealing models out there. The reality is that there are some issues to be had here though. This type of cookware will tend to release a variety of chemicals and gases so it isn’t exactly the safest one that you can use. In fact, it even releases greenhouse gases at high temperatures so while it doesn’t stick at all, it does have some very bad effects to your health and you should definitely do all in your power to avoid it to the best of your capabilities.
No matter if you get non stick kitchen cutlery or cookware, this can have some negative effects on your body and you should try to avoid it the best way you can. It’s very hard to avoid this type of cookware because the non stick benefit seems to be very good. However, the idea that it releases a lot of toxic gases and chemicals should definitely concern you.
Stainless steel
Metal based options might be ok, but they do integrate multiple chemicals as well. In fact, chromium, nickel and molybdenum that you can find in the stainless steel options can migrate to your food. Of course, this happens when the cookware is worn so you won’t be in a lot of danger unless the knives are damaged too much or very worn.
Aluminum
Aluminum can also be an option because it’s widely spread on the market. But don’t think it’s a healthy option because that is not the case. The aluminum salts are widely known to bring in issues like visual impairment and in time it can even cause allergies. This is one of the main reasons why you should stay away from it. These happen when aluminum has direct contact with your food, so make sure that your kitchen cutlery and cookware is not chipped. You won’t be able to detect the aluminum intake, which will make it even harder for you to figure out the cause of your disease in the first place.
There are also anodized aluminum options, but the anodizing process isn’t really the safest and the overall results that you receive are certainly not the best that you can find out there. Plus, the extra cost doesn’t really justify the extra investment to begin with.
Cast iron
Cast iron has a great heat distribution and it’s also known to be relatively safe. Iron is actually a healthy food additive according to the FDA so you won’t have to worry about it. Of course, you should keep it clean at all times but overall it can be a solid investment and one that will pay off immensely in the long run!
Copper
Copper isn’t really safe because while it does have a protective layer, that layer can easily peel off and in the end you don’t receive a very good result. Try to refrain from using copper cookware as it’s not safe at all, in fact it can be very bad if you use it really often. Even the protective surface components might end up in your food, so refrain from using it if you can.
Ceramic knives and cookware
Ceramic and enamel are great options because they don’t have components that end up in your food and cause damage. Instead, they are ok to use for any type of food and you should consider giving them a shot. If they do have any pre-requisites, those will most likely be written on the labels. The idea here is to study the labels. Some good ceramic knives can be found at Wilsoncutlery.com!
Plastic
Obviously, this is not a possibility that you should focus on. Never rely on plastic because it’s unhealthy and it will break very fast. This is the last thing you want to have so keep that in mind and results will be great because of it!
Remember, when you get kitchen knives and cookware, you should always try to get the best options on the market. Granted, it will be a challenge but try to ensure that safety is a major priority here. There are lots of unhealthy options out there so try your best to avoid them and results will be great because of that!
